When is peak season in Ireland for prices, crowds and booking pressure?
July and August are the core of it, with June close behind and St Patrick's week a sharp spike in the middle of March. The Central Statistics Office counts August as the peak month of tourism activity, and the pattern is set by school holidays in Ireland, Britain and North America landing on the same weeks as the festival calendar. Pressure shows up first in beds: Dublin, Killarney, Galway and the Causeway Coast sell out on summer weekends, rental cars go early, and timed tickets for the big sights are taken days ahead. Prices follow the crowds, so a room that is reasonable in May can be half as much again in August. Once your dates are fixed, book the beds and the car before anything else.
