How many bases should I use on a ten day trip around Ireland?
Six or seven bases, with two nights in the two that matter most. Our Grand Tour in 10 Days sleeps in Dublin, Kilkenny, Killarney, Galway, Sligo, Derry and Belfast, and the pattern inside it is the lesson: one night stands are fine for Kilkenny, Sligo and Derry, but Killarney and Galway each get two nights, and Belfast gets the last two. No driving day runs much over three hours. Fewer bases means long backtracking drives to the peninsulas. More bases means packing every morning. Seven beds in ten nights is the honest ceiling.
