How early should I book accommodation for a summer Ireland trip?
Earlier than feels natural, because the stock is small. For July and August, book three to six months ahead for the places everybody wants: Killarney, Dingle, Galway city and the Causeway Coast. Festival weeks go first, so Galway during Race Week and any Fleadh Cheoil host town need booking the moment dates are fixed. A good B and B may have only four or five rooms, and once they are gone there is no second supply. Shoulder season, May, June and September, usually allows four to eight weeks. Book the bed before the flights if the trip is built around one small town.
