When is the Irish Derby, and how do I go racing at the Curragh?
The Irish Derby is run at the Curragh in late June, the centrepiece of the summer meeting and the biggest day in Irish Flat racing. The race has been run since 1866 and headlines a course that hosts all five Irish Classics, with about 23 race days between March and October. Getting there is arranged for you: complimentary shuttle buses run from Kildare Town and Newbridge railway stations on race days, and under 18s are admitted free. For Derby day itself, book tickets ahead; for an ordinary fixture, just turn up, and arrive early enough to watch the horses walk the parade ring before they run.
