When is St Patrick's Festival in Dublin, and how early do I need to plan?
The festival runs five days around 17 March, with the parade through the city centre on the day itself: 13 to 17 March in 2027. Plan earlier than feels necessary. City centre beds for that week are largely gone by Christmas, flight prices climb through the winter, and the parade route stands several people deep by mid morning. The working order: accommodation first, then flights, then anything ticketed. Stay inside the city if you can, because parade day closes roads and crowds the trains in from the suburbs. And remember that nearly every town in Ireland runs its own parade. A smaller town's St Patrick's Day is warmer, cheaper and far less queued than the capital's.
