What should horse racing visitors know about raceday tickets, dress and transport?
Start with the fixture list on Horse Racing Ireland, then book on the racecourse's own site. Most Irish courses sell general admission online in advance at a lower price than at the gate, and festival meetings and Ladies Days sell out first. There is no single national dress code. General enclosures run smart casual, many racegoers dress up for festival days, and hospitality and members areas can set stricter rules, so check the course page for your enclosure. Flat shoes suit grass and long days. For transport, use the shuttle buses and trains laid on for big meetings where they run, and expect roads around the course to slow down after the last race.
