How do town festivals affect road closures, parking and accommodation prices?
A festival redraws its town for the weekend. Organisers and the local authority publish road closures and diversions, often closing the centre to through traffic and moving parking out to temporary sites, with Garda traffic notices setting the routes in and out. Follow those signed routes rather than local shortcuts. Accommodation prices rise with demand, and the closest beds sell first, sometimes with minimum stays over festival weekends. If you are passing through rather than attending, allow extra time or route around the town on its big days. If you are attending, book the bed when you book the ticket, park once, and walk or use the event buses for the rest of the stay.
