How do I plan a trip around the Cork Jazz Festival?
Build the weekend around one or two ticketed concerts and let the rest stay loose. The Guinness Cork Jazz Festival centres on the October bank holiday weekend, with headline shows in venues such as Cork Opera House, the Everyman and the Triskel, and a free music trail of gigs through pubs and hotels across the city centre. Book the bed first, in the centre if you can, because most venues sit within walking distance of each other and parking is tight. Then book headline tickets when the programme is published, and leave gaps for the trail. Cork Kent station keeps the car out of the weekend entirely.
