How long does the Ring of Kerry take if I stop properly?
Give it a full day, and two if you can. The loop is 179 kilometres, and the short legs set the pace: Killarney to Kenmare alone is 34 kilometres and 40 minutes in our road data. The driving is only part of the day. Stops that earn their time include Ladies View and Moll's Gap on the Killarney side, Sneem and Waterville for food, and the Skellig Ring detour if the day allows. Count the driving and the stops separately, start by 9am at the latest, and plan to be back before dark outside midsummer. Splitting the Ring with a night in Kenmare or Waterville turns a long day into a good one.
