What is Kildare Town like in the evening?
Quiet, and honestly so. Kildare town winds down early: kitchens close by nine or so, the square empties, and the evening is a pub, a walk and an early night rather than a scene. The Silken Thomas on the square is the social centre, with bars and food under one roof; on race days and summer weekends the town stays up later and the talk turns to horses. For a livelier evening, Naas is a short drive away with more restaurants and bars, and Dublin is about half an hour by train, though the last train home will set your curfew. Come to Kildare town to sleep well, not to stay out.
