What is there to do in Kildare Town when it rains?

The Irish National Stud works in most weathers: the guided tour walks outdoors, but the Horse Museum, with Arkle's skeleton as its centrepiece, and the Irish Racehorse Experience are under cover, and the Japanese Gardens in light rain are quiet and at their greenest. The cathedral, in season, is worth a slow hour, and St Fiachra's Garden was made for soft Irish weather. Otherwise the town does what Irish towns do: a long lunch, Firecastle Lane's bakery and grocery for provisions, the Silken Thomas for a fire and a late afternoon, and Kildare Village a few minutes away if retail is the plan. Rain here rarely lasts the whole day.
