What is the best day trip from Bangor?
Belfast, about 20 minutes by road in clear traffic and 25 on a city morning, or 33 minutes by train into Lanyon Place. It is the day Bangor exists to make easy: Titanic Belfast first, then City Hall, the Cathedral Quarter and the shops, with the train sparing you the city's parking. The Bangor line runs every 20 to 30 minutes, so treat the city as an extension of the town and go early. What Bangor gives back in return is the evening: the marina, the promenade and the lough shore, all quieter than anything Belfast offers at that hour. Sleep by the sea, spend the day in the city.
