What is the best day trip from Ardmore?
Dungarvan, about 20 minutes east along the coast, and a fuller town than visitors expect. It is the western end of the Waterford Greenway, the 46 kilometre off-road walking and cycling trail from Waterford City, so if the day is fine, hire bikes in town and ride a stretch of it over the viaducts. Otherwise: Dungarvan Castle, the Norman castle by the harbour, which is free to visit, then the harbour and a town centre that feeds people well. Run it castle and harbour first, lunch in town, the Greenway or the shops after. Lismore, about 35 minutes inland, is the strong second trip from Ardmore, not the first.
