What is the best day trip from Antrim?
Belfast, about 25 minutes south by the M2, or about the same by train from Antrim station into Lanyon Place. Run it as a city day: Titanic Belfast on the old shipyard site first, while you are fresh, then City Hall and the centre, and the Cathedral Quarter for lunch and the afternoon. The train matters here: Antrim sits on the Belfast to Derry line with an hourly service, so the county town's best day trip needs no car at all. If you are staying in Antrim, be back for the lough shore in the evening. Belfast will still be there tomorrow, and the Causeway Coast is the trip for the day after.
