What is the best base town in County Antrim?
It splits by trip. Belfast is the base for a first visit: the museums, the restaurants and the trains are there, evenings look after themselves, and the coast is a day trip north. Ballycastle is the better base if the coast is the point of the trip: you start each morning ahead of the day buses, Rathlin Island's ferry is at the harbour, and the Causeway and the Glens sit either side of you. Cushendall suits a quiet Glens stay but leaves you far from Belfast. What we would not do is base in the county town of Antrim: pleasant, on Lough Neagh, and a drive from everything you came for.
