What is a good route for a family road trip with shorter driving days?
Build it at the Family pace in the planner, which caps the day at about three hours at the wheel, and in practice keep most legs under two. A route that suits children runs Dublin for two nights, then Kilkenny for its walkable castle and lanes, then Killarney for three nights, where the national park starts at the edge of town and boat trips, easy cycles and Muckross fill days without driving. Finish in Galway for two nights, with the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher as the one longer day out. Two nights minimum in each base and one unscheduled afternoon in every three keeps the trip on the children's side.
