What are the best things to do in County Fermanagh?
Get on the water first: hire a boat on Lough Erne, even for a day, because Fermanagh only makes full sense from its lakes. Take the ferry to Devenish Island for the round tower and the early Christian carvings. On land, choose one great house properly: Castle Coole on Enniskillen's edge, or Florence Court in the southwest. Then go underground at the Marble Arch Caves, and if legs allow, climb the Cuilcagh Boardwalk, the Stairway to Heaven, on the Cavan border. If time is short, drop the second house. The lough, the island and the caves are the county; the houses keep for another trip.
