What are the best things to do in County Clare?
The Cliffs of Moher, first or last in the day to have them quieter, and the Burren as its own day rather than an afterthought: Poulnabrone dolmen, the limestone pavements and, in late spring, wildflowers growing out of the rock. Take the ferry from Doolin to Inis Oirr, the smallest Aran Island, and walk back into Doolin for the evening session. Ennis is the music town if you are staying inland, and Bunratty Castle and Folk Park is the county's one big heritage set piece. If something has to go, make it Aillwee Cave: a good cave, but the Burren above ground is the rarer thing.
