What are the best things to do in County Armagh?
Armagh city carries the county: stand between the two St Patrick's cathedrals facing each other across the hill, walk the Georgian streets, and give the Observatory and Planetarium an hour. Then Navan Fort, the Iron Age ceremonial site outside the city, which is older and stranger than it looks from the road. South of the city, walk Slieve Gullion in the Ring of Gullion, and time the orchard country around Loughgall for blossom in spring or apples in autumn if you can. If days run out, drop the Lough Neagh shore towns in the north: fine for a lakeside hour, first to go from a full plan.
