Is Ardmore worth an overnight stay or just a stop?
Stay, if you are touring the Waterford coast slowly. Ardmore is a village, not a resort town: evenings are a pub, a good dinner and the sound of the bay, and that quiet is the appeal. It makes a gentle base for this corner of the coast, with the cliff walk on the doorstep and Dungarvan and Lismore as day trips. Who should pass through instead: anyone driving the south coast on a schedule, for whom Ardmore is a fine two hours, the tower, the cliffs and a coffee, between Youghal and Dungarvan. In high summer, book ahead. The village has few beds, and they fill.
