Is Adare worth an overnight stay or just a stop?
Stay, if the trip allows it. Adare by day is a stop on the Limerick to Tralee road and it knows it: coaches, through traffic and a busy main street. By evening the day visitors are gone, the cottages are lit, and the village becomes the place its residents actually live in, with dinner in a cottage restaurant and a quiet walk by the Maigue afterwards. Golfers are already staying, for Adare Manor and the build-up to the 2027 Ryder Cup. Who should not stay: anyone mid dash between Kerry and Dublin, for whom Adare is a handsome hour and no more.
