How many days do I need in County Derry?
Two days. The city itself wants one full day at walking pace: the walls, the museums, the Bogside and the cathedral quarter do not compress, and rushing them misses what the city is. The second day splits two ways, the north coast to Mussenden and Downhill, or south to Heaney country around Bellaghy, and a third day lets you do both plus the Sperrins. The city can be visited as a day trip from Belfast, ninety minutes by train, but it repays the overnight: the walls at dusk and an evening in the city are part of the visit.
