How many days do I need in County Cavan?
Two days. Cavan's sights are spread across a drumlin county of small hills and lakes, and the driving between them is slow, local road all the way. Give one day to the north-west, the Burren Park, the Shannon Pot and the Cuilcagh boardwalk, and one to Lough Oughter, Cloughoughter Castle and Killykeen. Anglers and boaters on the Shannon-Erne Waterway will happily use a third. A single day means choosing between the boardwalk and the lakes and seeing neither properly, though Cavan town and the castle can be done as a long day trip from Dublin at a push.
