How many days do I need in County Carlow?
One day covers the dolmen, Carlow town and a short Barrow walk, and many people pass through Carlow exactly that way between Dublin and Kilkenny. Two days is the better answer if the county is the destination rather than the route: a full Barrow Way stretch on foot or by bike, Altamont Gardens without a clock on it, and a Blackstairs walk if the weather opens. Carlow does not need three, and pretending otherwise would be padding. Its strength is being unhurried and good value inside a south-east trip, not filling a week.
