How can I see Ireland's main landmarks without spending every day in the car?
Use two bases and day trips, and accept that some famous sights will wait for another trip. The pattern in our ready made itineraries is three or four nights in Killarney for the Ring of Kerry, Killarney National Park and Dingle as a day trip, then three or four nights in Galway for the city, Connemara and the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren on the transfer day between bases. No driving day in that shape runs much over three hours, and unpacking happens twice. Add Dublin nights at either end for Trinity, the Book of Kells and Kilmainham Gaol, reached on foot and by tram, not by car.
