What should I never pack or bring through Irish customs?
Revenue's list of goods you must declare, and in many cases must not bring at all, is the one to work from. Never pack illegal drugs, or firearms, weapons, fireworks and explosives without the licences Ireland requires. Do not bring meat, milk or products made from them from most countries outside the European Economic Area, Great Britain included: the ban exists to keep animal disease out, and such food is seized at the airport. Products of endangered species, ivory among them, counterfeit goods and oral smokeless tobacco also belong on the leave behind list, along with live animals or plants that have no clearance. Cash is different: €10,000 or more is legal to carry but must be declared on entry or exit. Revenue's route for anyone in doubt at the airport is the red channel, where officers answer questions on the spot.
