Is tap water safe to drink in Ireland?
Yes. Public tap water in Ireland is treated and tested, and Uisce Éireann publishes quality results for each supply while the Environmental Protection Agency oversees the standards. It is what people drink at home, in pubs and in restaurants, where a jug of tap water is free. Two honest qualifications. Taste varies by area, from soft western water to harder supplies in the midlands, and a small number of local supplies sit under a boil water or do not consume notice at any given time after storms or treatment faults. If your accommodation displays such a notice, follow it and use bottled water until it lifts. Otherwise, fill a bottle from the tap and save the money.
