Are shops and attractions open on Sundays and public holidays in Ireland?
In the Republic, most shops open on Sundays, usually with shorter hours than a Saturday: city centre stores commonly trade from late morning to about 6pm, and smaller towns open less. Attractions generally open on Sundays too, though some heritage sites and smaller museums close one or two weekdays instead. Northern Ireland is stricter: large shops may only open between 1pm and 6pm on a Sunday, while small shops set their own hours. Public holidays change the pattern again. Big attractions often open, with Christmas Day the near universal exception, public transport runs a Sunday style service, and many rural businesses close. Check the operator's own page for the exact day rather than assuming.
