What questions should I ask a tour operator before booking an accessible day tour?
Ask in plain terms and get the answers in writing. Can the vehicle take your wheelchair on a lift or ramp, and can you travel seated in it, or must you transfer to a bus seat? What are the maximum chair dimensions and the combined weight limit? How many steps are there at each stop, and how far is the longest walk or push? Where are the accessible toilets on the route, and are they planned stops or detours? What happens if the accessible vehicle is unavailable on the day? Does a companion travel free, are assistance dogs carried, and what is the cancellation policy if your needs cannot be met? An operator who answers each point clearly is the one to book.
