What does the Kildare genealogy and heritage centre hold, and can it search records for me?
Kildare Genealogy holds computerised transcripts of most of the county's Roman Catholic parish registers, running to 1899: the heart of any Kildare search, with baptisms in the best kept parishes from the 1780s. You search them yourself at kildare.rootsireland.ie on a subscription, with civil birth, marriage and death records, gravestone inscriptions and a 1901 census index alongside. The service now works from Kildare County Archives and Local Studies at Harbour View in Naas, where staff give advice and assistance; the archives open by appointment on Thursdays and Fridays, and free digitised collections online include burial registers for 15 council graveyards and poor law union minute books back to 1839.
