Can I request that a surname be researched and added to the map?
Yes. Use the request form under the surname map and give the spelling the family used, plus any variant spellings and any county or place already known from family records. Requests are private and are never shown on the site. Each request is researched from the same public sources the map is built on, Matheson for distribution in 1890 and Woulfe for Irish forms and meanings, and names are added in batches as that research is done. A request does not need the name to be common: rarer names are part of the same records, and they are welcome.
