The Ryder Cup 2027
13–19 Sep 2027 · Adare Manor, Co. Limerick
The biggest sporting event in Ireland in 2027: the Ryder Cup at Adare Manor. The week's play runs 13–19 September, with the matches themselves on 17–19 September.
Thatched cottages line the main street and medieval friaries stand behind them. Adare knows it is photographed and dresses for it, in County Limerick.
The row of thatched cottages along the Main Street, built in the 19th century under the Dunraven estate and now housing shops and restaurants.
The former Trinitarian friary in the village park, founded in the medieval period and now the Catholic parish church.
A 13th-century castle beside the River Maigue on the edge of the village, open by guided tour in season from the heritage centre.
The great 19th-century Gothic Revival house on the Maigue, now a hotel, whose parkland and entrance gates border the village.
Adare's name comes from the Irish Ath Dara, the ford of the oak, after a crossing on the River Maigue.
Three medieval friaries were founded in and around Adare: Trinitarian, Augustinian and Franciscan.
The Earls of Dunraven reshaped Adare in the 19th century, building the thatched cottages and developing the village around their estate.
Adare Manor was built in the 19th century as the Dunraven family home on the banks of the Maigue.
Adare Manor hosts the Ryder Cup in September 2027 (event week 13–19 September; the matches are 17–19 September). The course is magnificent and effectively residents-first: non-resident tee times are limited, every golfer must take a caddie, and no green fee is published. Third-party estimates run around €550. If playing it matters to you, the realistic route is a stay at the resort, booked well ahead. Otherwise, enjoy the village and play Lahinch or Ballybunion on your golf days.
